A pause you can both see.
When one of you wants something, put it on hold first. Share it with your partner, let the wanting cool, then decide together whether it's still worth buying.
Put something on holdNo account and no bank login, for either of you.
You:
Want that $180 standing desk. Putting it on hold for 7 days.
Partner:
Send me the link? I'd like to see why first.
You:
Sent. We'll talk about it next Friday.
Who sees what
The hold lives in the browser of the person who made it. Your partner gets a view of it, not a copy.
You
The one who wants it
- Put the thing on hold with its price and why you want it.
- See what it really costs in hours of your work.
- Send your partner a read-only link to the hold.
- Choose Skip or Buy once the cooldown ends.
Partner
The one you share money with
- Opens your link in any browser, with no account.
- Sees the item, the price, your reason and the time left.
- Can't edit the hold or decide it for you.
Partner voting arrives with early access. For now the link is read-only.
What's inside the link
The hold travels in the part of the link after the #. Browsers never send that part to a server, so it stays between the two of you. Your hourly pay and the item's shop link are left out.
When your partner opens it, HoldUp shows the hold as plain text with a note that it was shared by someone using HoldUp and isn't verified.

Reaches the server: just the page
#the hold itself
Stays in the browser: the item, price, your reason and when the cooldown ends
Partner voting arrives with early access
Early access is free with an email signup, no card needed. HoldUp will be $19/month per household after launch, and early access is limited to the first 100 households.
